Pre birthing and Postnatal Acupuncture

Prebirth Acupuncture

Prebirth Acupuncture refers to a series of treatments in the final weeks of pregnancy to prepare women for childbirth. Prebirth Acupuncture helps prepare the cervix and pelvis for labour and ensures that a woman’s qi, blood and emotions are in harmony.

Acupuncture is an ideal method to help women prepare themselves to have the most efficient labour possible. Feedback suggests that Prebirth Acupuncture offers a range of positive effects that goes beyond reducing the time spent in labour, with midwives reporting a reduced rate of medical intervention including medical inductions and caesarean sections.

Postnatal Treatment

The postnatal period refers to the six weeks directly following childbirth.

Ideally acupuncture treatment is given once a week commencing from 2 weeks postpartum for a total of 3 weeks to promote stamina and an efficient recovery. Acupuncture can also be useful at this time to balance emotions, aid perineal healing and help with any breastfeeding problems.

If you wish to complement your acupuncture treatment with a specialised yoga sequence I would be happy to help.
